Panel five looks fantastic by the way. :)
Anyways, the slightly aged Bactine and tragic-looking Zedwig have got to be one of my all-time favorite panels in this comic. =D
just kidding. i don't think she's really dead either. it must be a ploy to get fang off the balcony.
anyway, i wonder if she was able to help zedwig any. she seemed to be clinging to him for dear life at some point - now i know it's because she's trying to save his life and risking hers, but i'd just like to point out that she recently got snuggly with al'bert and sang and now zedwig. so if we all live vicariously through bactine, that's a lot of manjoyment. or elfjoyment!
Don't forget she just got into a very physical fight with Fang, so all she needs is a good wrestle with Geeves and she'll have made it all around!
My own opinion...I know that this event meshes with Bactine's character and the story line better, but, I still rather think Bactine should have put Zedwig out of his misery and not risked this. Well, I hope that whatever trust she put in Zedwig was not in vain.
Prettifulness! <^_^>
The last three panels in particular are amazing and convey lots of emotion (not to mention, just look at the LIGHT in the 5th panel!) And I'm quite fond of the last panel, where you have aged, exhausted looking (still living?) Bactine, held by the remorseful, hoping-against-hope, and caring Zedwig, with the angry (and anxious and vengeful) Fangline in the background. I also love Zed's face in the 2nd to last, and the fourth panel, and... GAH. So beautiful.
why Colby? why?
andf yeah.. she looks like Rogue sort of in the Gone with the Wind kinda escene from the last panel
ok , yeah .. she is not dead, we all already know that, geez
Right?
(do I sound like I care for Bactine? Nope. I just want me Zedwig!)
(I think I can honestly say that Zedwig is the first character I've ever seriously 'fangirled' over. [Bad Colby for reducing me to such a state!] I cannot help it. More pretty Zedwigs! <^_^>)
It seemed as though Zedwig said it mockingly as he held on to her arms... I thought it meant something like "ok, goody-two-shoes, take this trust you're so fond of... and shove it!"
I was still thinking about how strangely he behaved as my eyes continued reading.
And then everything happened so quickly! And yes, I did feel shocked at the last panel!
But then I went back to investigate those quotes only to find them being stars.
I guess it meant a whisper? It wasn't really clear...
I think I'm more used to whispers being indicated by a dotted outline of the speech bubble.
But I AM kind of thankful for the OHMYGODOHMYGOD reaction this inadvertently caused.
The world flipped upside down!... and rearranged itself back again as I understood the original meaning of the sentence.
NOOOH Bactine can't be dead! I do think she healed him thogh, because, as noted, Zedwig does not have the bags under his eyes - but she does! I wonder if this is 'Zedwig feel better, Zedwig smash' time. (Oh I have no idea why he became a barbarian).
What about Sangwine??? I mean, last we saw, he was still bleeding out on the floor. Somebody call EMS!
...Because yes, a modified version of a Princess Bride quote was seriously the first thing I thought of. And in that story everything turned out alright! Now where's the Miracle Man?! "We [fans] have never taken defeat easily!"
I do love how Zedwig looks like a young, strong man again in the last two panels whereas Bactine looks aged. Hmm... if she did live and did age, then her and Sangwine have even less time together (which is better than none...)
And, of course, Sangwine gets to play the oh-so-wonderful role of the dying man everyone has seemingly forgotten about lying on the floor. Poor Sang.... (though obviously no one has forgotten about him)
So, where be Xylic? (and Derf, and Stump, ...and Sum'melph, and...)
Or he's -moving- her healing magic somewhere. Like...to Sangwine?
(I hope not...)
I'm wondering, though, how the forturne-teller's prediction of Bactine's death will play out. What, no one forgot about that, did they?
Also, was that even Bactine's spell? It kind of looked like the whole thing took her by surprise... either that or she made a snap decision between panels 3 and 4.
*runs from the rabid Zedwig fangirls*
All I keep repeating to myself now is , "Zedwig said to trust him, Zedwig said to trust him, Zedwig said to trust him...."
Just had to add that. Anyway, love the pretty Zedwig, poor Bactine looks like Al'ice did after healing Zedwig and I think what surprised her so much was how much it HURTS to heal Zedwig. I mean, HE survived those wounds, so she should... right?
And, yeah, whatever Zedwig has up his sleeve had better be good...
I'm going with Zedwig putting a spell on Bactine to make her look/appear dead. Which could lead us into a romeo and juliet style twist.... only Sangwine is already on his way out... drat.
