Lint: #338 - A wasted performance

  • Sadfulness · 1 year ago
I love how the seer gets so frustrated that he drops the cryptic act. I knew it was all a front, I say, I knew it!!!!!!
(to paraphrase Rincewind from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, multiple exclamation marks are a sure sign of a deranged mind *evil giggle*)
  • Keybolt · 1 year ago
My compliments for your Discworld knowledge.
  • Falco · 1 year ago
    I'm impressed with the Wiz.

...his ridiculousness was enough to make Fang and Zedwig co-operate completely :O
  • Saasan · 1 year ago
O! angst-ridden A'lbert! Never leave us! XD You, too Wiz.
  • tess · 1 year ago
awesome! this comic made my day :) Best things=the collective *blink* and the wizards expression in the last two panels.

    Fang: Who is this guy?
    Zedwig: I...don't...know.
    Fang: Should I call security?
    Zedwig: Definitely.
    Wiz: *breaks character*
    Ilirien: *dies laughing.*

That so totally made my morning!

I kind of wish it were a magic 8 ball instead of a crystal ball =P
  • amuletts · 1 year ago
We once considered using a magic 8 ball in D&D. Whenever anyone cast -augury' we'd hand it to them.
  • colbycheese · 1 year ago
Now I wish it were a magic 8 ball, too!!

Colby: On trial for killing over 300 people with laughter. Weapon: The latest page of LinT XD
Ok, not funny, I know. The Wiz definitely broke his "cloak of mystery" act, didn't he? It is amazing what the power of agitation can do. :D "The living balm which thou seekest hath come!" That has potential to become a quote. XD
This page makes me want to draw more fanart for some reason. O___o

    LOL!
  • Erulisse · 1 year ago
She's named after a MEDICINE??????? XD How long have you been planning his scene, anyway? X) The bottle is GREEN. Very appropriate.
  • Nightlyre · 1 year ago
Hehe... I thought I remembered "Bactine" being some kind of first aid ointment, but I was too lazy to go look it up.
  • amuletts · 1 year ago
That is excellent. I feel like doing a spoof comic where fang heads down to the cells and finds that bottle.
  • Zypher · 1 year ago
Oh no, I thought it was hilarious. I was totally laughing on this page.
  • Elystriana · 1 year ago
Lolz, I'm cracking up laughing. I just Love Fang and Zedwig's expressions- especially in the third-to-last panel.
  • Hannah · 1 year ago
I love how Fang and Zedwig are temporarily united by incredulity.
  • LalkiN · 1 year ago
O.O Belated drooling on Al'bert. He pulls off the short hair better than Fang! Put him on the throne he's sexy! ^_______^ >.> Anyways, this page made me laugh. I love it. The Wiz...I haven't seen him in ages!
  • Keybolt · 1 year ago
So the current count on Al'bert's crew is...
    1 dead
    1 imprisoned
1 Almost imprisoned but eventually helpful, so now in service of fang.
    2 missing
While the count on Sangwine's crew is...
    5 planning the rebellion
    1 imprisoned
    1 traitorous duck....sorry goose
I know which team I'm on.
  • Bahnree · 1 year ago
Whoa, humor in Lint? It's been too long.
    Great page.
  • Lissy · 1 year ago
if you want expression and character, look at the eyebrows...

-bitterly laments that she has no ability to move her eyebrows separately-
  • amuletts · 1 year ago
Cartoon characters have an advantage over real people when it comes to that
  • amuletts · 1 year ago
Although I can give you a tip on how to achieve it. It involves one eyebrow going DOWN as much as the other one goes UP.
  • Shogun · 1 year ago
my tip is practice. The going down of one eyebrow and the going up of another can be rather dramatic for some situations, so learning how to make one go up all by its lonesome is also good.
  • Lissy · 1 year ago
aw, come on guys, don't you think i've tried all that already?
  • Shogun · 1 year ago
I'm coming back to this really late, but what worked for me was to HOLD one eyebrow down and raise the other. Repeat until you can do it without holding one down. The ability to raise one eyebrow is the ability to move the eyebrow muscles independently of each other, and that is something that doesn't come naturally to all, so it must be trained.

I find it amusing, the notion that those two, who hate each other, I mean, that is, the unwilling captive and the powerfull, gloaty captor, would suddenly be in unison, blinking i dumbfounded silence and mockery, together, at this guy.
    ...bravo!

I love this comic by the way. Never mentioned before, thought I would now.
  • colbycheese · 1 year ago
    Thank you!

Only the ludicrousness of the Wiz could unite Fang and Zedwig, if only for a moment.
  • Celidah · 1 year ago
"Well, why didn't you say so in the first place?"

LOL Definitely good to have some real humor to break up all this *DRAMA* (KRAKOOM)
  • CBX · 1 year ago
    Last 2 panels, comedy gold!
    @#$%ing awesome.

And Fang never looked so cute. I'd say let 'im keep the throne. He'll be so pretty on Schloeffelonia coins.
    Oh so pretty.
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
So wait a minute... Why is the Wiz helping Fang? Is he trying to impress Fang so he will release Al'bert? Does he not care about Al'bert and will work for whomever, or maybe has been working for Fang the entire time? Does he not know that Al'bert is imprisoned and Alice is dead so thinks he's still working for Al'bert, who works for Fang? I need back-story!

P.S. I love the comic, I've been reading it for a year or so but have never left a comment before this one. :)
  • colbycheese · 1 year ago
Hmm! A couple of things to keep in mind. For one thing: Al'bert's group wasn't made of the sort of loyal, together-to-the-end sort of people Sangwine's was. They were a bunch of mercenaries, and besides the exception of Alice, none of them were emotionally invested in Al'bert, who merely paid them well. Secondly, the Wiz never cared for Alice (which you don't know about, unless you read Bactine {where it is hinted at and why} or Fromage, which you can't yet).

There just is simply not enough room in this comic for me to put in all the backstories and details of everyone and keep the pacing moving along at a decent clip. Wah.
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
Oh, I see -- I guess I'll have to read Bactine. Thank you!
  • Erulisse · 1 year ago
He probably thinks that he will get rewarded for it. MOONNNEEEYYYYY..... so he can buy more fancy crystal scrying-globes.... And go into business. :D
  • Holly · 1 year ago
    Comment one- I love Wiz's moustache/beard thing.
Comment two- Al'bert looks like such a sweetie in the third panel.
  • neuefruhling · 1 year ago
Albert has used his charm magic in the past. If it left behind some of the same suffering as destruction magic, then Bactine just got a taste of the bad stuff which killed all the other healers when they received larger doses from healing mr. sweet cheeks there. We saw her heal Sanguine, way back after their fight with Albert's party (pg 80), without even blinking. This may explain the reaction in panel two. Bactine is experiencing this new kind of "disease" for the first time.
  • colbycheese · 1 year ago
...Or it could be she's experiencing a number of broken ribs and/or bruised organs, and possibly even a small amount of internal bleeding, whereas Sangwine's wound was merely a small surface wound back in chapter three. Al'bert was actually in quite a great deal of pain, although his manliness wouldn't allow him to show it for what it was. For Bactine, it is even greater because she's smaller and less strong than he is, naturally.

Charm magic doesn't do the same horrible thing to the user that destructive magic does, except perhaps it might be corrupting in the case of using it in massive quantities, however there isn't a charmer alive in the Lint world powerful enough to use it in massive quantities. Al'bert is about as strong as they come, and as you can see it doesn't work on everyone for him, and can only effect one person at a time, or perhaps lightly effect a few. He's pretty much a lightweight next to Zedwig's blowing up stuff like crazy-ness. Besides all that, Al'bert uses his magic fairly sparingly, instead preferring to rely on his own natural charm whenever he can, except in the case of being in a hurry or under duress. Or when he gets impatient.
  • Erulisse · 1 year ago
AH-HA!!!!!! I knew that scratch on her chin after she healed Sangwine's was important! My theory was correct! *gloats* So they sort of take the pain and wounds as they heal the person...
But obviously the magic also would weaken her! And that is why although Zedwig's fairly close to dying the healers actually DIE.
  • Tamarron · 1 year ago
I believe this is one of the funniest comic updates I've read in a month. Excellent!
  • Nothing · 1 year ago
This is amazing, I never thought that Zedwig would EVER agree with Fang on any point, nor did I think that Fang was even capable of expressions that weren't negative. (Surprise is neither positive nor negative.)
