not to pile more work on you, but i think as a fan i rather wait slowly for a coloured page then have quick black and white. the colour gives it all the more richness to your wonderful comic. you're worth the wait! :D but of course, in the end, which ever you feel is best! :)

Agreed. So long as you aren't fed up with the colouring, I think that all of us fans would be happy to wait longer for your rich, gorgeous pages.

It's always worth the wait. Your comic is absolutely beautiful and the story telling great. I prefer the color but understand when time is at a premium. Thank you for your hard work and attention to all those details.

i wouldn't mind if you changed it to gray scale.

but honestly i think everyone would be a little sad when the color stops. because we have gotten used to your beautiful coloring style.

maybe what you can do is color it at a later date and either replace the grayscale ones or put the color in your published book as an incentive to buy it. *shrug*

I'd be willing to wait once a week or something if you just kept on coloring. I love your colored work. It gives the comic personality. I didn't care about the font, but the color is part of the comic itself. I love knowing everyone's coloring and seeing the tones! If you can, please keep on coloring. However, I understand how time is and if you decide to gray scale it, I understand.

I understand the dislike for coloring, because it's so time consuming and can get repetitive. Maybe, you can go for an inbetween and do spot coloring. I did that once, and liked it. I colored only eyes, hairs, and important accessories that make each character unique (like Sang's necklace or Hope's wings). You'd still get to color the beautiful hairs and eyes that we all adore, and it won't take you so much time. :-) Just a suggestion.

On to the page...are you telling us that James is an exiled fairy? Theoretically, if he can make himself into a goose, he can make himself look however he wants.

I like the revision of James's hair and his overly pointy eyebrows. He looks condescendingly evil. :-D

I agree with earlier posters - I think above almost every comic artist on the web, your coloring is rich and dynamic and gives the story a truly warm, loving feel. I tried my hand at making a webcomic once- I got about three pages in, decided it wasn't worth it to spend hours on painting someone's face when it only took up an eighth of a page, and gave up. But perhaps in lieu of graytone - which I believe that, while artistic, would give the entire story a different feel, more like sin city, perhaps - you could consider making larger panels, with less face-shots? In slow conversations, I know there's not a lot to focus on BUT faces, but maybe you could try a panel focusing one someone's hand, or a wide panorama shot with lots of little speech bubbles in it, or the lower half of a chin and neckline, or an aerial view - anything to mix it up and keep it dynamic, as those not only are the most fun to draw (in my experiences, at least) but they really bring your pages to life.

Sorry, I'm getting awfully pedantic on a subject which you are the master in and I am only a disciple. My apologies! I understand that this is something you do for free, and I respect that you would not like to spend insane amounts of time on it, but as a fan I truly appreciate what you do - what you bring us, totally for free - and I don't want you to regret compromising artistic integrity in order to facilitate the speed of the process. If you do want to go greytone, by all means! Everyone here will still love it, I'm sure, and we'll all still be reading on, but I'm not sure it's really, well, Lint. :)

I actually disagree with everyone here. I mean, yes I did love it when you added color but the earlier portions of your comic was black and white, and I loved those just as if not more than the colored ones. I'm not bashing on your coloring, either! It's very high-quality work, but I would be just as content with grayscale or black and white... It's a variation from your coloring, which is always good. Spot coloring or doing a colored panel per page would be very cool, and the color could make it more dramatic or draw your attention to detail... Anyway, don't keep coloring if you don't want to.
I'm not trying to go against a ton of fans, either...
Lint, after all, started out in black and white, did it not? :D ... It's kind of like returning to its origins, if you choose to go that route.

I do have to say that I'd willingly wait for less frequent updates to see this in color. This close to the end, I feel like suddenly switching back to grayscale, or any new, major coloring style at all would kinda throw things off. But it is your choice, and maybe you could put up full color versions after the story was completed or something, right?

I know color your pages is a lot of work.... but I'd rather wait for the color. >_< You have such a nice coloring method, and it'd be weird to have a random color panel pop out somewhere.

I think the colouring *does* contribute, it wouldn't be the same without it. The colouring style you've got going reminds me of the old fairy tale books I read when I was a kid and I'll miss it if you stop.

Like most of the people here, I think the color really adds to the comic, makes it more dynamic even if ti does lead to less common postings. However, this is YOUR hobby and you should do whatever YOU want. Even if *heart breaks* that would be stopping right now. This is a marvelous story and the color is part of what makes it such a great comic and part of why I keep coming back. No one else devotes so much love and attention of the comics I read. Even of the colored comics, this one is just more... alive.

Hmm, I must be forgetting bits and pieces of the story now, cause I have forgotten who James is and what Goose is doing....
Anyway, I think your art is beautiful, but if you want to continue in black and while, I guess I shall be happy to have the story going quicker.

I don't think anyone's mentioned it but would would you consider going back to flat color? There was a segment done that way that I thought looked great, and it would be faster.

I don't think I could do flat color, as I've grown really attached to coloring with a lot of depth. Which segment are you talking about?

I just mean that the coloring you did is *relatively* flat, and I'm talking about the first half of the comic, starting from Bactine's Rapunzel hair where one layer of shading is visible. The coloring becomes more complex until around Hope's rescue, where you switch over to the fully blended coloring. By the way, do you think you could do a tutorial on your technique? :)

I would definitely miss the coloring. Since I started reading the comic late in the game, I got to see your art evolve from the early doodles to the modern intricacy relatively quickly. All good in their own right...but the new stuff is infinitely superior to black-and-white! Please feel free to take your time with the pages!!! I mean, Earthsong only updates once a week, right? ^_^

I also would much rather wait for the colored comics. But if you really want to see it finished, for yourself, then I wouldn't mind seeing some black and white panels for now as long as you promise to go back and color them later! 8-)

This web comic is one of the most beautifully illustrated comics I've ever seen, I'm more than willing to wait for it. A tutorial on your coloring technique would be more then welcome, but that would just be more stuff to do. But worth the wait.

I love the color, I think it does add a lot to the overall comic. It creates a very rich visual element to the story. However, art is about experimenting and evolving so I'll keep an open mind if you decided to give the partial color a try.
