Teitnl told him that his father had been dead too long to bring him back, but Bactine might not be. Also Teitnl said that Unicorns, Fairies, and Kings all have some life magic, but only Unicorns use it on a normal basis. Although Hope would have tried to heal Bactine right away if she could(does life magic factor in with healing btw?) Maybe the pendant is linked too life magic and kings, and this is a way of bringing her back for Sangwine!
Also I love Bactine's expression in panel four! It's made of win, she all- I know everything now, bwuahahahahahahahaa!

Re: #437 – The Pendant

I'm still here, i swear. XD I just am so busy that I can't think of smart things to say. Derf, drawn and quartered? Do elves even DO that? I mean, otherwise, how would Sang know that he should restore Al'bert's titles? And that Derf told everyone about Sang seeing his dad? Sang didn't know about them, so that means Bactine must exist in some state beyond his own imagination, since she knows information he doesn't.

And I'm so excited for the next page! ...But not so much the comic being but a few pages from being over and done with. It was sort of like an afterthought, and not much was said about it (if I remember correctly). It was in the main comic but not heavily emphasized. Also, I'm assuming that Derf told the rest of them about Sangwine seeing his father right after it happened. Those are the only questions I can answer....I'm wondering about the reason for Bactine's long wait to visit Sang too...

Re: #437 – The Pendant

i don't like the bactine/sangwine dream thing as an ongoing relationship, because it seems highly unlikely he'll move on with a real woman in real life. this is also the case with alex/nastajia, but in that case alex is not the last living in the royal line in his world, and the issue of whether or not the two could breed like that has not been addressed, although i imagine they might be able to, whereas with sang and bactine, this seems impossible and sang is the last schloeffel! well, there is xylic, perhaps he will marry hope and have children </shipping>. but i don't know, it seems a sad end for sangwine that his entire family life is solely in his dreams, intangible, unreal...

i don't remember the bit with the wizard and the pendant, was it in a side story and not the comic? also, how does bactine know what derf overheard, when derf's still alive? she met him first, in his dreams? and why did it take months til sangwine saw bactine if he was wearing the pendant the whole time? i would move these questions to the podcast thread, but perhaps they're about to be answered on the next comic. wow, this page so confused me!

Re: #437 – The Pendant

Pendant?
